Jonathan Saunders SS12 :: 2 Kingdom St
Set in an empty commercial block in this shiny new world was where Jonathan Saunders chose to stage his show (for the second season in a row). And so this deserted-at-the-weekends enclave was over-run, with a seemingly endless plume of town cars snaking their way across the city in the evening rain, from Vivienne Westwood's earlier Smithfield show. From Victorian meat-market to twenty-first century tower: the contrast couldn't have been any greater. So the heavy-hitters of the fashion world - from local legends Hilary Alexander, Roland Mouret and Lulu Kennedy, to a sizeable translatlantic contingent led by Kate Lanphear and Derek Blasberg, looked understandably disoriented as they were discharged into a sudden world of rippling glass, endless geometries and wan fluorescent light.
House of Holland SS12 :: The Dairy
Pastel punks were the order of the day at the House of Holland Spring/Summer 2012 show on Saturday afternoon. There was plenty of tartan in pale pink, purple, green and blue in shirts, skirts and trousers. Mixed in were chunky knits, and some rather eye-popping oversized leopard print loose pieces. Then the show switched gears with shiny snakeskin, metallic mesh dresses which showed off bold underwear underneath. Accessories comprised of chunky jewellery, Pretty Polly tights, and belts with gold padlock belts.
Pringle SS12 :: The Dairy
Celebrities, models and high society were out in force this morning for Alistair Carr's debut womenswear collection as Design Director of Pringle of Scotland, signifying a new direction for Pringle.
Acne SS12 :: The Old Sorting Office
Mirrored from wall to floor, the ACNE catwalk space at The Old Sorting Office demanded attention, or rather, screamed it. Reflecting and refracting every movement and camera flash of the audience, everything and everyone was on show, with a mirrored, one-sided runway that caught each nuanced angle of clothing like an enormous fashion kaleidoscope.
